He gained a post-graduate bursary, continuing his studies at the Royal Academy schools and was awarded silver and bronze medals for sculpture, graduating with a post-graduate diploma in 1979. Wright took up part-time post teaching art in a North London junior school, continuing his art practice and exhibiting. He was invited as a guest lecturer to teach on the Foundation course at St. Albans and Liverpool College of Art and Design Fine Art program. Wright was subsequently offered a permanent teaching post at Hertfordshire College of Art and Design, University of Hertfordshire, and developed a degree program in Art and Design. He was Course Leader for the Fine Art degree program 1993 - 99, and is currently a senior lecturer in the Fine Art program.
